Viva Can Picafort “Fourth stay at Viva Ca’n Picafort”

Dear Viva Hotels

My wife, son and I have just returned (26/8/08 – 02/09/08) from our fourth stay at Viva Ca’n Picafort in the last four years. We have had an excellent holiday yet again and didn’t want to leave! Thank you to all your staff who work so hard to ensure we have a good time. It’s nice that most of them have worked there since we first stayed in 2004. We look forward to returning again in 2009.

Thank you

P. N.
(Room 4203)

Hotel Viva Can Picafort “great first holiday abroad!”

Sep 28, 2006

We visited the hvv 14th sep 06 for me and my 2 daughters it was our first holiday abroad and we had a fantastic time.First impressions of the hvv were great the apartments were spacious and very clean i would give them 10/10 for how clean they were and how hard the staff worked everyday to ensure they stayed that way,the only downfall was at mealtimes the staff were a little eager to take away your plates!! The pool area was again very clean and we had no problems geting sunbeds even early afternoon we always found a sunny spot and a parasol. My children didn’t go in the clubs but i do know there were plenty of activities for the kids as well as adults to get involved in. The food was okay the only problem was it tended to be the same thing day after day, however my children didn’t have any complaints about the desserts!! The beach and local shops are just a 10 min walk away with lots of bars and different places to eat out if you wasn’t all inclusive like we were, the beach i found was lovely and we enjoyed many hours in the sun and sea.One of the days we chose to visit alcudia but in my honest opinion i didn’t rate the beach at all it was quite smelly and dirty i preffered c’an picafort beach much better. On the whole i will not complain we had a fantastic holiday this hotel is fab for families with a really good atmosphere i would definitley recommend the hotel to anyone and i would return although this maybe not for a few years yet as i would like to explore other countries, we are thinking of going a little further next yr and visiting tenerife if anyone knows of any good hotels there i would appreciate any tips/info u have thanks.

Hotel Viva Can Picafort “Great holiday!”

12 sep 2006

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week long all-inclusive stay at the Viva Village (2-9th September). All in all I would highly recommend it!

We arrived at 8.45pm and were met with a friendly rep (makes a change!), and shown into the large, attractive hotel foyer. The receptionists were very helpful and ushered us straight in for dinner as it ended at 9.00pm. They kept our bags safe and then pointed us to our room when we were finished.

Our room was located in Block 4 on the ground floor. It had everything we needed; one bedroom (with two single beds pushed together), bathroom (with two showers and a tub!!) and small kitchenette with fridge, hob and microwave. A bottle of water was waiting in the fridge along with little sachets of hawaiin tropics sun lotion – a nice touch I thought. The safety deposit box is in the wardrobe. We had a terrace as we were on the ground floor but we didn’t use this as it backed onto the road (not a busy one, but this was still a downside). The room was not very noisy but as with most hotels, the walls were a little on the thin side! The room was cleaned and beds made every day except Wed and Sun, and towells replaced everyday if you wanted them to be. There were a few ants but not so many that we were bothered.

Outside, the gardens and pool area were lovely, plenty of sunbeds. We were warned to get up early and hang around for when they unlock the sunbeds but I think this applies more to high-season, we were fine to get up, go for breakfast and then just find our spot. We tended to stick to the grassy areas as there was plenty of sun and you were away from kids splashing and screeching.

The whole area was very clean and well maintained – there was always a little army of cleaners, gardeners, pavement washers etc beavering away to make sure things stayed that way.

The food in the buffet restaurant was impressive:
Breakfast – full english, pancakes, continental, toast, cereal, fruit; basically anything you could fancy.
Lunch – like a main dinner really, four or five main dishes along with pizza, a chef cooking omelettes, lovely salads, soups, bread and cheese.
Dinner – same as above really, with a grill cooking meats, pasta with various sauces and then the main hot dishes which varied night by night. They have themed nights where they bring out an extra table full of Spanish/Mexican foods.
Beer, wine, fizzy pop, juice and water on tap to help yourself. I was impressed with the fact that they did not seem to use lunch leftovers for dinner, and vice versa as nothing was repeated.

Waiter service was fast and friendly, but make sure you leave a drink or an item on your table when you go up for seconds/pudding as they will clear it away and you’ll have to move to another table.

Caribbean Grill – we heard bad reviews, so were a bit apprehensive. The starters were nice enough, if a little boring, but I could not eat my main as it was quite literally chargrilled and tasted of soot! The vegetables were mushy but the jacket potato was nice. These accompany everything. My boyfriend enjoyed his though. Desserts seemed ok, but they have a habit of covering every dessert in luminous sauce; this time green and yellow, which tasted of mouthwash and ruined what would otherwise be a nice cheesecake! My advice would be to book a slot here for 8 or earlier, so you have time to visit the main buffet restaurant after if you do not like your meal!

Italian Restaurant – this was lovely. My starter of assorted crostinis was presented well and tasted divine – I would have been happy to pay for this in a posh Italian! And other courses were lovely but again the problem with the luminous sauce on the desserts!

Throughout the day you can get salads, burgers, chips, pizza etc from the pool bar. They take seconds to arrive and are all yummy.

Nightime – you can get pretty much any spirit you would like in your AI package, along with wine, beer, cocktails and sangria, cava. Watch out for strong measures, you may want to order vodka coke and then an extra coke to mix in! The entertainment was mostly geared to kids – Goulash the monster was a favourite and had his own slot every evening, followed by Bingo and then the main entertainment. Its not to bad as you can time your eating for when this is on and it doesn’t bother you too much. Main entertainment varied from a comedian, to a quiz and acrobats, to a pantomime, some good, some bad. It could have been better I thought.

C’an Picafort 5-10 mins walk down the road, has a nice seafront and plenty of shops and bars and has not been spoiled. Try the Blue Blue perfume shop – I was amazed at how cheap it was and spent hours (and £’s) in there! The beach is clean and there are plenty of sunbeds and space for you to sunbathe. On Friday’s there is a market but beware it is right at the other end of the beach, quite a trek in the heat but its a nice experience.

All in all, the Viva Village is a dream if you have kids, but still great fun and relaxing if you haven’t and you don’t mind them. Great food, lovely surroundings, well worth the money we paid and I would go back. C’an Picafort is a lovely part of Majorca, not too loud, not too quite, unspoilt and still ‘Spanish’ rather than a Blackpool abroad! Only 10 mins away on the bus to Alcudia if you want a bit more nightlife.

Hotel Viva Can Picafort “Excellent Holiday”

23 ago 2006

Just returned from an excellent holiday. Rooms have enough space for a family of 4 set out in blocks of 3 high. Our apartment was facing the road but it wasnt busy but it was situated under the stair which was a real problem if you wanted to sleep before everyone had gone back to the apartments. The kids reps and the entertainment team were fantastic, always something going on all day. Even if your kids doent want to go the kids clubs which our teenager didnt, there is alot going on around the pool area for them. There are activities for the adults as well from bums and tums to waterpolo. The indoor pool, jucuzzi and gym are good if you want to get out of the sun for while. Plenty of sunbeds that are chained up a night, need to be under a parasol by 8.20ish to get a spot in the deeper pool but if you want to be near the shallower pool its earlier. Plenty grass areas with sun and shade if you want to be away from the pools altogether which is much quieter. Food ok, plenty of choice in the buffet restaurant and snacks available all day from grill ie hotdogs, hambergers, chips. Sometimes have to que but not for long, staff work hard and are friendly and polite.
Overall an excellent holiday was had by all, kids were never bored and we found it relaxing as the kids were entertained by reps or playing in the pools which had a life guard on duty from 10.00 am.
